On September 5, 1997, The San Francisco Opera returned to the beloved and beautifully renovated War Memorial Opera House to open its 75th season with a spectacular concert. With Beverly Sills as host and Derek Jacobi as master of ceremonies, this once-in-a-lifetime event reunited performers with breakthrough roles they performed at the San Francisco Opera. Richard Bonynge, Plácido Domingo, Jerry Hadley, James Morris, Samuel Ramey, Ruth Ann Swenson, Carol Vaness, Deborah Voigt, Frederica von Stade, and many others are featured in a gala evening
conducted by SFO music director Donald Runnicles.
