JONI'S
LEAF
A brilliant sun, so nice and bright
Green leaves dance until the night
Amid the green, one grayish brown
Why now, July, should it come down.
Why one of mine, when others stayed
Why did she die, she had it made
I searched for why, it seemed so wrong
Some ill so soon, but she was strong.
I loved that leaf, while on the tree
We shared a love, so deep and free
In wind it waved both to and fro
I wished it stay but it would go.
Her limb will stay and always be
For Polly and for Scott and me
Our tree still strong without her here
For memories always keep her near.
